Arike Ogunbowale

Arike ogunbowale (born 2nd April 1985) is an American professional basketball player. She is part of the Dallas Wings and the Women's National Basketball Association. She played for Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the college level before being selected as the 5th overall pick by the Wings at the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale's parents Yolanda Ogunbowale and Gregory Ogunbowale were born March 2nd, 1997 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mario Ogunbowale (26) and Dare Ogunbowale(20) are two of her brothers. As the youngest of her siblings, she was the one who was most spoilt by her parents. Gregory Ogunbowale's father worked with the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale is from a family with ties to the sports world. Her mother Yolanda played softball for DePaul and her brother Dare plays football. Her aunt played the sport of volleyball in UAPB. Her cousin Endia plays volleyball too at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale was on the school's Honour Roll for three years consecutively. Ogunbowale has also received numerous honors and has received acclaim and recognition from her school days. Arike did her graduation from Divine Savior Holy Angels High School which is located in her hometown. When she was at school, she also participated in three seasons of varsity football. Ogunbowale's extraordinary abilities helped her school winning stunning victories repeatedly. The high schooler has made 73 appearances and accumulated 1,477 rebounds as well as 1,477 points in her career. Ogunbowale has won gold at the 2013 U16 FIBA Americas Championships, 2014 FIBA U17 World Championships and 2013 3x3 FIBA U18 Championships. The 2014 USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team was announced on 7th July 2014. Ogunbowale is also part of the ACC All-Freshman Team, after her first season in a college. She was even congratulated by Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant after she hit numerous big shots during the NCCA Tournament.
